I could not wait to share this wedding! With the times we are living in, I’m sure you’ve heard about Micro Weddings…or how about Minimonies? Small wedding Or to keep it simple, an elopement? Well, nowadays it seems that this is the new way to do weddings and I love it. Intimate weddings have always been some of my faves. Genevieve and Kevin only had about 13 people at their ceremony and for their mini reception it was only their parents and the priest that married them. What there was lots of, though, was love. In the end, that is all you need.
Genevieve and Kevin are one of our June couples that had to postpone their wedding due to Covid. With all the unknowns going on and all the changes happening from day to day, their plans changed so many times but they stayed positive and hopeful through it all. When they booked us last year we would have never thought any of this would be happening but I love that they have stayed so positive and God willing they will be having their big celebration next year with their friends and family. They decided to have a Minimony (mini ceremony) for now while they wait for their big celebration. But, guess what? That got postponed. Then they finally had a set date for the Minimony at their local church and a few days before their ceremony the governor reversed some of the guidelines and churches were once again not allowed to hold services indoors. I was nervous for our couple, but of course I didn’t tell them that 😜 Thankfully their priest told them he would marry them outside of church and the wedding was back on! What a rollercoaster but totally worth it 💕 They had a super intimate ceremony in Genevieve’s grandparents’ backyard with all the current guidelines observed and it was still such a beautiful day.
There were so many personal touches to the day. Genevieve’s grandmother handmade her wedding dress, which happened to be finished the morning of the minimony! Genevieve also got to wear her late grandmother’s 80 year old headpiece from her own wedding. What a beautiful heirloom to have and use at your wedding. I also loved that the reception was hosted in their home that they just bought. Kevin literally got to carry his wife over the threshold right after their ceremony and I got to take photos of it. That is a first for us and I loved getting to document that moment.
While they will be having a big celebration, I loved that they still made it official this year. I am happy we got to document this day for them. Just because you have to have a small wedding or micro wedding with just a handful of people, it does not mean your day can’t be beautiful and meaningful as you had originally planned. It also doesn’t mean you can’t have beautiful images! Just check out their photos below!
