First post of 2022! Just had to put that out there!
I love holidays and Valentine’s Day is one of my fave so it’s no surprise that I love having these sessions. Since these particular photo sessions are just for kids, it makes sense to have a pint sized version of them! Right now I am putting together this year’s Valentine’s Day Minis and was going through past sessions. I thought it would be a good idea to also put together some tips for you guys.
So here are some of my top suggestions:
WHAT TO WEAR: I think we all think of red, pink, and white when we think of Valentine’s Day. Those are the colors I 100% recommend the kids wear along with neutrals and jeans. It’s guaranteed to match with any Valentine’s Day background your photographer will have. You can make it casual or dressed up, totally up to you! You can even have them wear their favorite Valentine’s Day themed pajamas. Get creative with it and make the session all you!
PROPS: Continuing with making the session you, feel free to bring props. Anything that shows off their personality. If your child has a favorite teddy bear or a Valentine’s Day book they have been reading, bring it with you!
TIMING IS EVERYTHING: Mini sessions are usually scheduled back to back and are short photo sessions. You want to make sure that you are not only there on time, but early and ready to go for your time slot. I can guarantee you this will make things less stressful for you and your time slot can be used completely and efficiently.
WHAT TO DO WITH THE PHOTOS: Recently it has become popular to send out Valentine’s Day Cards to family and friends just as you would Christmas/holiday cards. I love this idea and I will actually be doing just that with my kids this year! You can also make custom cards for your kids to pass to classmates. Aside from printing, I love doing these yearly themed sessions to see how much my kids have grown in just one year. It’s so amazing to see them all side by side.
Hope these were helpful. If there is anything else I should add, please leave it in the comment section below 🙂
I also wanted to share these images from one of our VDay Mini Sessions. I always put a lot of thought into these themed sessions. For these minis I knew I wanted to have a huge heart be the focus. Then I started thinking that having it be more than just a big red heart would help it stand out even more so I decided on an ombre heart. My husband and I stayed up making this DIY heart background and cutting and pasting everything ourselves. It was definitely a labor of love and it came out perfect! I love the minimalistic look but it had the perfect amount of pop. It’s still one of my favorites! Can’t wait to share this year’s sessions. Make sure to keep an eye on our stories on instagram, which is where I usually post all the info for our minis.
